Bob Rundquist grew up in Michigan, but spent most of his summers in Mississippi. Growing up was fun. Typical boy, he liked to build, break down and rebuilt. What made him different was his approach.
Everything came naturally, like building tree houses for neighbor kids and taking his mother's sewing machine apart and rebuild it back at age 13.
Preparing for a career as a wood craftsman was a slow process that just happened as part of his career. Qualified as a draftsman and trained as a welder, Robert began building houses in California in the early 1980s. Later years he started to specialize in custom cabinet making and remodeling of kitchens.
All those years the artist was lingering in him, always searching for new and one-of-a-kind ways to earn his income. The result was a constant learning process and when kitchen cabinets were not a challenge any more, he turned to segmenting and wood turning.

In 2019 Robert is adding another chapter to his life as a teacher of woodwork. His first online class is in segmenting in which he teaches in fine details the blueprinting, building of segmented elements and bringing it all together in one wood turned piece, while he is already planning a new class in which he will teach his students the most basic of woodwork, the very thing that he worked out for himself when he was just a high school student.

Robert is at the early beginning of name recognition as an artist. With a few awards and some reputable commissions under his belt, we will learn and get to know him as a dedicated, very talented craftsmen and artist.
