Porcelain clay is worked like a clay, but becomes like glass when fired which makes it the strongest clay.  It is suitable for daily use; formally or informally.
It is microwave and dishwasher safe and sometimes translucent if the walls are thin.

Learn how to make porcelain mugs and cups, salt and pepper shakers, jugs or pitchers, salad bowls, soup and cereal bowls, casseroles, plates and platters. See how to best decorate and glaze, carve into clay, pull handles, making and fitting foot rims. Understand porcelain glazing and firing considerations.

What students say about TeachinArt.
Handbuilding porcelain dinnerware
  • I've taken a total of three E-courses from Antoinette and have always been pleased with the information I've received. She has a wonderfully clear way of explaining how to work with porcelain and the various techniques she uses. A five-star class. Thank you, Antoinette! (Mary S. from Washington, USA)
Wheel thrown porcelain dinnerware
  • Great course. Clarified some questions I had about throwing, in particular with regard to hand positioning - questions not explained in most pottery books. The best part was acquainting me with the principles of design and opening up my mind to the expressive and creative possibilities of clay. (Miranda D. from Australia)
