​​Paul brings you his unconventional approach to the medium in this online ceramic class.  He takes you through the planning phases of design and multiple firings of complex pieces, demonstrates all kinds of brushwork and other systems of making marks, and introduces you to many unusual tools, substances, and processes.
​
Clay artists will discover the most painterly ceramic decorating medium. Traditional China painters will be introduced to different water-based mediums for layering and textured surfaces. Painters in other mediums will see how to translate their methods into a more permanent product.  

Paul shows an extensive overview of historical and contemporary use of china paints and other overglaze materials.  He muses on making art, making a living making art, and making china paint do things most people don’t do with it.  Most importantly, he gives you the information and the challenge to make this traditional medium your own.

What do I need for this e-course?

• You must have consistent access to a computer, iPad or IMac or related technology.
• You must have basic computer knowledge. (Although we will assist you with the viewing of the videos, we cannot teach you how to use a computer).
• You will need access to an electric kiln for the firing.
• You will need materials for China Painting. You will get the materials list when you register for the class.
