Introduction to segmenting with Bob Rundquist

Bob explains safe cutting techniques and shares tips on maximizing the value of the expensive wood you’ve purchased. He skillfully blends building techniques with artistic approaches to create large, lightweight wooden containers.

With all the tips and techniques that he shares during the workshop, you can choose what works best for your style. This isn’t a turning class, but it’s packed with insights and techniques for woodworking artists.

How to make a blueprint for the planned segmented bowl.
Cutting and gluing the base
​Use solid base instead of segmented base
​Week 3
Prepare the base for the chuck
Attach the base to the chuck and fix any mistakes
Cutting and gluing the 1st level
​Attach the 1st level to the base
​Week 4
Attach the 2nd level to the 1st level
Attach the 3rd level to the 2nd level
Attach the 4th & 5th levels
​Week 5
Trimming the inside and outside of the bowl
​Week 6
Fit the floating disc to the bottom of the bowl
​Finishing off the bowl
